Terms & Conditions

1.0 Goal

The mission of Wine Association Dionysus is to deepen members understanding of wine and viticulture, while fostering a vibrant social community among our members. We achieve this by organizing wine tastings, excursions, and various other events.


2.0 Definitions

2.1: Wine Association Dionysus: Refers to the association, hereafter abbreviated as 'Dionysus' for brevity and 'Dio' in informal contexts.

2.2: Member: Any individual or entity that engages with our services or participates in our events.

2.3 Events/activities: Any activities or gatherings organized in honor of Dionysus.

2.3: Content: Encompasses any images, videos, posts, or other media shared via social media or related platforms.


3.0 Membership

3.1: Eligibility for membership is open to all students in Leeuwarden.

3.2: Members must be at least 18 years of age, in accordance with Dutch law.

3.3: Only students enrolled in programs at NHL Stenden are eligible to hold a position on the Board of Dionysus.

3.4: All membership applications are subject to a two-week trial period once the registration form is signed. Following this period, membership becomes permanent.

3.5: Membership is personal and non-transferable. Sharing a membership card with non-members is prohibited and will result in a strike, contributing to the total strikes outlined in section 7.

3.6: Membership is ongoing unless terminated as outlined herein.


4.0 Duration of Membership

4.1: Membership begins upon confirmation of registration and lasts for the duration specified in the registration form.

4.2: The membership year runs from September 1 to August 31.

4.3: Membership will renew automatically for the same duration unless written notice is provided to Dionysus two weeks prior to the end of the membership year.

 

5.0 Termination of Membership

5.1: Members wishing to terminate their membership must submit a written notice to the secretary before August 1, if not stated otherwise by Dionysus.

5.2: Failure to provide timely notice will result in the continuation of membership for the specified duration.

5.3: Membership may be terminated by the Board in cases of misconduct, with a maximum of three strikes permitted before termination is enacted. Terminated members must return their membership card, which will be destroyed.

5.4: The Board reserves the right to terminate a member with one infraction if deemed severe enough, requiring a unanimous Board vote. (5.4.1): This ermination results in a lifetime ban from rejoining Dionysus.

5.5: No refunds will be issued for any unused portion of the membership fee if termination occurs.


6.0 Membership Fee

6.1: Members are required to pay a membership fee, determined by Board approval during the General Members Meeting. (6.1.1): For the 2024/2025 academic year, fees are set at €140 for a full year and €75 for a semester.

6.2: The Treasurer is authorized to collect dues, typically at the beginning of the academic year. Members may request payment in installments.

6.3: Members who fail to pay their fees will not be allowed to participate in events until payment is made, beginning with the first missed installment.

6.4: Membership fees are primarily payable via direct debit unless agreed otherwise with the Board.


7.0 Member Rights and Responsibilities

7.1: Members are entitled to participate in all activities and utilize Dionysus facilities, barring specific denials per section 6.3.

7.2: Appropriate behavior is expected when representing Dionysus at NHL Stenden or any affiliated sponsors, both in-person and online. Non-compliance may lead to a strike as described in section 5.3.

7.3: Members must respect the privacy and rights of others in all online and offline interactions, avoiding harassment, bullying, dicrimination or the dissemination of false information.

7.4: Members are accountable for the content they share online, ensuring they possess the rights to such content and that it does not infringe on others rights.


8.0 Activities

8.1: Registration is mandatory for all activities via the Google Forms sent out via email, before deadlines set by the Board.

8.2: Members with multiple no-shows may face disciplinary action, including a fee of €2.50 for each occurrence.

8.3: Members must arrive punctually for activities as communicated in advance via email to avoid exclusion.


9.0 Former Members

9.1: Previous members can maintain in association with Dionysus by paying an annual fee of €25, thereby gaining 'Former Member' status.

9.2: Former members are entitled to discounts on events and €2.50 off tastings, except where specified otherwise.

9.3: Former members receive priority registration for Dionysus’s annual wine trip over non-members.

9.4: Former members are expected to adhere to the same Terms and Conditions as current members.

9.5: Additional benefits for former members will be announced throughout the 2024/2025 academic year.


10.0 Liability

10.1: Dionysus disclaims any liability for the consequences of alcohol or drug use among its members.

10.2: Dionysus is not responsible for members actions or statements made outside of organized events.


11.0 Use of Images, Social Media, and Privacy

11.1: Members consent to the use of their images during Dionysus events for promotional purposes.

11.2: By joining events, members grant Dionysus a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free license to use their likenesses for promotional activities.

11.3: We encourage members to share their experiences on social media, tagging Dionysus and using designated hashtags.

11.4: Dionysus is committed to protecting members' personal information and complies with all applicable privacy laws. Personal data will not be sold to third parties, though it may be shared with vendors assisting in service delivery, under confidentiality agreements.

11.5: Members wishing to opt-out of having their images used for promotional purposes must notify Dionysus in writing prior to attending any event, in writing per email.


12.0 Statement of Terms and Conditions

These terms and conditions aim to establish a positive and respectful enviorment within Dionysus. By participating in our community, you agree to uphold these principles.
